About me
Since I was a child, I have loved dogs, I grew up around spaniels and retrievers and they have always been part of my life. I worked for a while in airlines and events until I had my children, and I took a career break to raise them. I decided to use this break to follow my four-legged passion!
I hold a City and Guilds Level 2 in dog grooming which I completed at the multi-award-winning KD Grooming Studio under Kelly Davis (winner of BBC One’s hit show Pooch Perfect). I also have a Level 3 Certificate in professional dog grooming and styling, I am canine emergency first aid trained as well as trained in dog skin and coat care, brachycephalic dogs, canine welfare and oral and dental health. Most recently I have been using my experience and Level 3 Award in Education and Training to teach at Hartpury College in their Dog Grooming Department. I am lucky to have had fantastic mentors and worked in some top places over the years, and now I am living my dream of having my own dog grooming service.
The name ‘Barkhouse’ might sound like it comes from our furry friends, but it’s actually a mixture of my maiden and married name. The logo is also personal, as it's based on my beloved golden retriever, Marley.
I am passionate about animals, animal care and dog grooming. I work hard to deliver the service I would expect for my own dog, and I am dedicated to delivering this to my clients in a professional but friendly environment. I love seeing the transformations in the salon and meeting your pooches.
